How about being able to opt into a trading app that allows you to input a specific cigar or brand and the db returns a list of members who have them. You could then work out the trade with the member.  Additionally maybe a check box for sticks you don't want to trade so you aren't inundated with requests for the ones you are unwilling to part with. Kind of like a searchable trading block.

Not a bad idea, Chris, but I think you will do better if you just post a list of cigars you want to trade on the forums.  The majority of humidors here are marked "private" (for obvious reasons) and locked to public viewing.    ;-)

Hey! How come Habana is written on here with a Sharpie ?!?

A day without whiskey is like . . . just kidding, I have no idea!

Bruce has a good point, but I like the idea.  Maybe limit it to people that have their humidor set to public viewing?

What about multiple humidors?  Make one public and one private?

I'm with Mark and Thomas that was going to be my suggestion. Then you could just make a humidor named "Trade" if you had stuff your willing to part with. Think that would be better. I mean I'm always open for a trade, trying as many new cigars as possible before I keel over is my thing  so mine is always public and I just don't add a particular humi :shades: But I also understand their are members who are not interested and like what they have and want to keep it that way.

Not sure administrative wise what would be involved? Wouldn't think adding check boxes to set certain VH as public and others as private would be that much but then again could be a pain?

A wise geek once told me that moving up from a daily smoke to a weekly or even bi-monthly smoke would be worth it, if I could learn how to appreciate a really really good cigar. -southernrun

Maybe it's like becoming one with the cigar. You lose yourself in it, everything fades away, your worries, your problems, your thoughts. They fade into the smoke, and the cigar and you are at peace. ~Raul Julia

No need for two humidors just a check box for private sticks when inputting into your inventory...

So the function of "private sticks" would be for those that you didn't want to trade, right?  I guess I didn't give it much thought, private would mean that you don't want people to see what cigars you have? Security concern, or because of ISOM? I'm from Missouri, remember, you've got to SHOW ME.

I would think private sticks would mean no trade. I have some ISOM's listed, not boxes but ones from trades etc. Some might just be ones your not interested in trading or don't want the hassle of people knowing you have em. I mean if you have something rare or really don't want to get rid of em you wouldn't want the hassle of having to be the arse that keeps saying no when your sitting on a whole box. You have to have a way of keeping some or all private if for no other reason than it's simply a members right to keep it that way if they so choose.
