This inexpensive and simple little gadget makes excellent coffee or "near espresso" - I think the best home brew I have had

A agree DogMan, and I said so back on 4/14/2012, bottom of the first page of this thread:

I have been using the following setup for about 3 years. Makes kickass, smooth, strong coffee.

I use this for brewing: http://www.amazon.com/Aerobie-AeroPress-Coffee-Espresso-Maker/dp/B0...

I brew into this, the AeroPress fits nicely: http://www.amazon.com/Thermos-Nissan-18-Ounce-Stainless-Steel-Insul...

I use this hot pot: http://www.amazon.com/Aroma-AWK-115S-X-Press-2-Liter-Cordless/dp/B0...

This is my preferred coffee: http://jeremiahspick.com/store/online-store/premium-coffees/fogbust...

And I grind in this: http://www.amazon.com/Breville-BCG450XL-Conical-Burr-Grinder/dp/B00...

To each his own. Taste is subjective.

I think the best cup of coffee I ever had, was what's called cowboy coffee while at a hunt camp,,,large coffee protoceratops camp fire,, add grounds,,,,bring to boil,, take off fire,,left sit a couple minutes,,, pour cold water over the mix to settle grounds, and enjoy,,,,might be just me, but it was the best,,,don't think the snow or cold had anything to do with the coffee either,,,,lol

HA - missed that - Wescat is right on. For those that like french press, this setup, to me, makes coffe similar to that but w/o some of the bitter notes, so it seems 'richer', I guess

c.petree.1 - 5/9/2014 8:09 PM What the hell is French press? I love to order espresso at coffee shops but am scared to commit to buying my own machine. So many varying reviews online.

Easiest way to enjoy some of the best coffee you'll ever drink.  It's all about the beans....allows one to buy whole beans and ground them right before you drink the coffee which is where the taste is.  There are so many varieties and qualities of coffee beans and with French Press it's all about tailoring your tastes to what you like...medium, strong, extra strong like espresso.

Grind the beans as course as you can.

Heat up good filtered water to as hot as you can get ( hot water pot...get these at Walmart cheap )

Buy a FP that holds at least a couple of cups of coffee  ( 32 ounces is what I have )

Takes a total of about 4 minutes from the time you start til you are having some great coffee.

Just curious, but is this a daily ritual, or a Sunday morning treat.  I had my first cup of "French Press' coffee last weekend while camping.  It was a fine brew for sure....BUT...I can't see myself going to the trouble on a daily basis.

I don't drink coffee on a daily basis so most of the time I do use a French Press. The funny thing is I bought it for my GF (hardcore coffee drinker) and I use it more then she does. She likes the flavor but tells me she doesn't have the time to brew cup after cup in it.
