The local tobacconists in my areas all sponsor different events from time to time. I go in and shop, and I ask if they have an email signup for events and deals and such. Most do. Then, when they have events that they are sponsoring, or know of, I get an email from them. Also, many cigar companies have email news signups too. They send you emails when they are sponsoring events too. Between them both, I have been able to attend some nice functions.
A third way is to see if your local B & M has a local smoker's club. You could join, and that would give you a chance to meet fellow people that enjoy the sticks. Many events center around the clubs themselves, and you get some opportunities through that.
