Hey all - Just joined the site and recently started smoking.  Looking for a recommendation on a good humidor that can hold 200+ sticks.  I have a smaller one that holds about 50-75 but it is starting to have a little difficulty closing  :)  Thanks in advance for the help!

Welcome, check out C-Bid you can usually score one at a reasonable price.

Cigars International or Cuban Crafters offer a good selection.

Welcome, Dan!

The problem with what you are looking for is that the maximum capacity on most widely available humidors is 100-150 count (don't believe the descriptions . . . only go by the dimensions).  A typical 100 count is around 13.5"W x 9.5"D x 6.25"H.

An El Diablo claims to hold 300 (probably only true if small cigars) but probably hold close to 200.    (18" width x 11.25" depth x 10.25" height . . . but part of height is a utilty drawer).

A few others that will hold 200+:  Treasure Dome, San Marco, Foot Locker.  Google them and you will find them at a number of retailers.

Just go big at the start so you don't have to keep buying more humidors.  You will outgrow whatever you buy very quickly.    ;-)

I swear by the treasure dome.  It has a lot of capacity and has been very dependable.

Thanks for the responses everyone! Great information Bruce and I was finding it difficult to find a large one. I saw the El Grande on C-Bid (Thanks Lubrix!) and it looks identical to the one you listed but a few bucks cheaper.  I will check out some other sites but that looks like a good place to start.

What Bruce said.  The El Diablo is very nice.  I have it.  For me it holds about 175-200 cigars.  Here is a link of mine. http://www.cigargeeks.com/index.php?topic=13777.0

Dan, let me be one of the first to offer off-site storage of any cigars that don't fit in your current humidor.  Surprised that some of the other BOTL haven't offered up services as well.  Free quality control of any smokes sent my way is offered as well.....just to make sure nothing happens during shipment of course.  I'll smoke no more than one per day, just to make sure they stay in peak perfection....so send extras....;-)

I find that some of the larger ones really require you to dig for most of the cigars.  You might just want to pick up another 100 count humidor and maintain two.
I'm right 98% of the time.  Who cares about the other 3%?

Or three.  Or ten.  Or more . . .

After picking up my Montegue End Table Humidor 5 months ago (1,000+ capacity), I thought I would be able to pare down the 17 humidors & 3 tuppedors in my den.

Well at least those 3 tuppedors are gone!       :shamebag:

I love humidors but after buying about 12 of them over the years I would suggest buying one or two very nice ones that hold around 200 cigars....as you continue buying ( and you will ) start thinking of storage in other ways...Cooleradors, Tupperadors...which are great as your stock expands.  I keep around 10 tupperadors and 2 cooleradors and the money you will save by not buying more wood humis is enough for you to buy a lot of boxes of your favorite cigars.

pferg

I agree with Cigary, only have afew wood humis, and the rest tupperadors and cooleradors. and spend the extra money on more cigars.

Welcome, Dan-O, from the Bluegrass. On the devil site recommendations, I recently picked up both the 5 Vegas and Man O' War 100 counts for 93 smackers total plus the 8.95 shipping on the first unit. Very nice humidors that are quick and simple to get going. Impressive art work too if you're into that. If you go that route, just be patient and remember if they are going high one cycle, they'll eventually come around to your price.

If you are going to go that route, I would really suggest the Rocky Patel Humidor.  It the same style but just slightly larger.

5 Vegas/ Man O War: 13.5x 9.5x 6.25
Rocky Patel: 15.5 x 10.5 x 7

That slight increase in all three dimensions doesn't sound like much, but it changes the volume from 801.5 in3 to 1139.25 in3.  That is a lot of extra capacity with a very small change in footprint.

It sells for $75 at CI

The only downside is that you have a Rocky Patel Emblem on it.

If you are handy at furniture fixing, ebay has 300 count units with "glass" top and front for cheap (I got mine for around $45 w/ free shipping). I had to seal all the plexiglass, and ended up having to do a little gentle wood bending to get the top to seal properly when closed, but it works like a champ now.

If you are not a handy man, great advice from everyone else so far. I agree with Cigary ... tupperdors and coolerdors save money, as long as you have enough spanish cedar to go in them.

Wow! I was not expecting so many responses! Thank you for all the welcome messages and the great recommendations. I will do my research and let you know what I decide to get.

Thanks!!

Decided to go with the El Diablo. Seemed to get some pretty good reviews and the girlfriend said it's allowed in the house. :P

Thanks again everyone! Feel free to help fill up the new box!

Those are typos on the dimensions, Jackal...all 3 are the exact same size humidor. Both the 5 Vegas and the Man O War are 15.5 wide x 10.5 x 7.

You  might want to check out Cuban Crafters.

A friend has one of these and loves it.  He got his 4-5 years ago at about half price due to scratches which he repaired himself -- they list scratch and dents as well as "closeouts" occasionally.  You could call and ask I suppose.  I have bought from them (cigars and accessories) a number of times and they're great to deal with.

Oh and it's important to note -- they used to offer free shipping on humidors, even the larger ones like this one, which is a big deal, as most places that can save you a few bucks on  a humidor usually nail you hard on the shipping.
