Greetings everyone,

About 15-20 years ago a friend brought back some cigars from Canada, cubans etc.  He gave me a few and one of them was exactly what I thought cigars should be like.  Went to a local cigar shop at the time and tried to find some cigars.  Never could find any of the same quality and ended up giving up.  Just a random gas station cigar occasionally since then.

Finally decided to give it another try.  Now the closest cigar shop/lounge is an hour away from me so I have been doing it online.  Got some samplers coming and trying out Thompsons cigar tour for the next 3 months.  Decided it's time to find those good smokes once and for all.

Came across you guys trying to find a cigar shop close by.  Figured this could be the next best thing to a local lounge since there isn't one in my area.  That's my cigar experience thus far.  Looking forward to the next chapter.

Welcome from Buffalo, NY.

Be careful with Thompson's, they like to try and trick you into signing up for some club where they auto-reorder you cigars, and make it very difficult to cancel.

Enjoy the forums, ask lots of questions, and enjoy some cigars!

Welcome from southern California.  You are bound to discover good cigars if you hang around this place!  Enjoy the ride.

Hi Jimmy.  Thompsons has prolific marketing so a lot of new cigar smokers find them first, but they're really the Wal-Mart of cigars, cheap "good enough" stuff at best, crappy shipping practices, aggressive marketing and terrible service at worst.  JR Cigars and Cigars International are a step better, while Holts.com, cigarpage.com, famous-smoke.com (Famous Cigars), Cigarking.com, smallbatchcigar.com are all best options.  Welcome to the community!

I'd rather have a cigar...

Welcome. I've been very happy with the service from Famous Smoke Shop - check them out.

I am not concerned about what you think as I can tell you don't do it often.

COME ON IN THE HOUSE!  Welcome from the Dark Corner of South Carolina!  Good place.  Mostly good people, except Kent and Doug.  Bruce is questionable as well.  There's a herf channel on Hangouts that we get on.  I don't visit as much as others, probably lucky for you, and them.  Check it out.

Famous is a great online retailer.  I can't recommend Serious Cigars enough.  Great deals pop up on there.  Cigarpage is a great place for daily deals.

Thank you for the greetings,

I will take the advice on watching out for Thompsons and also check out the other sites you all have mentioned.  My first order and humidor is supposed to be here monday.  Just after the weekend of course.  Ending up getting rid of my humidor years ago when I had given up.
