My wife and I will be going on a cruise in September. 2 of our stops will be Grand Cayman and Cozumel Mexico. Is anyone familiar with any LCDH stores in either place? I'll be taking my own cigars but I would really like to take advantage of enjoying some ISOM cigars while I'm there!

I've been to Cozumel but it was before I started smoking cigars so I can't help you there. If its offered I highly recommend taking the Swim with the Dolphins excursion at Chankanaab National Park. It's a bit pricey but is easily the 2nd best excursion I have ever been on. Either way good luck and have fun!

Oh yeah and 3 words. Tortuga Rum Cake!

What cruise line are you taking and how long is your cruise for? I'm going on a cruise later this year as well. I'm also interested in enjoying some ISOMs while traveling.

I would do a little research on identifying counterfeits ISOMs, prior to the trip. Since you will shop for cigars where lots of tourists visit, I would be on the lookout. I think my friend got a counterfeit when we visited Cancun years ago.

Have a fun vacation!

A cruise, eh? Wonder if you could troll behind one of those big boats? That would be the life! Sitting in a deck chair smoking a cigar and waiting for the big ones to hit.

I flew to Cozumel on a high school band trip back in 1983. We took a day cruise to some beach. Once the boat was underway, the crew pulled out fishing poles and caught our lunch on the way to our destination. They cleaned the fish and tossed them into a couple of big vats of hot oil. No breading or batter needed. That was some of the best fish I've ever eaten.

Here's a tip - don't buy Cubans off the street for $50/box. Hope that helps.

Seriously, here are the LCDH for those two places:

Cayside Galleries
George Town, Grand Cayman

Ave. Rafael E. Melgar No.01-B
esquina con Ave. Juárez
Cozumel, Quintana Roo, México

I've never been to either of them, though.

Fake Cubans are rampant in Cancuun and Cozumel...and real ones are overpriced in Cozumel...do cruises have access to Duty Free Shops??

I think the best bet for Cubans would be the Cayman Islands maybe?

Let me know what you find on Grand Cayman. I am headed there in November for my honeymoon and was looking forward to finding some local shops to buy from.

Thanks for the locations. We cruised last September too & I found ISOM shops in Antiqua and Tortola. When we got to Nassau, the "Cuban" cigars were everywhere. It was crazy.

I did have a Romeo Y Julieta corona that I got in Tortola. It was one of the best cigars I have ever smoked as far as flavor goes. Just awsome.
