The Hype:
This is a new cigar to be available for sale in January. It will be sold in a variety of shapes and with a variety of wrappers. It is a product of Tabacos de Costa Rica, a factory producing fine cigars for quite a few boutique brands. This cigar and others to follow will be made under their own brand.

This cigar was enjoyed with none

Pre-Light: 20 Points of 20 Possible

This is a nice looking cigar, it had a nice brown matted sheen to it, some veins, smooth to the touch. The foot had a sweet grass smell as did the barrel of the cigar. It felt nice in the hand and had a firm roll, no soft spots were detected.

Light & Burn: 8 Points of 15 Possible

I Olman toasted up nicely with a bit of a restricted draw. The ash was a soft gray and stacked and held to about ½ inch. Up until this point the cigar was smoking nicely then stared to tunnel and a touch up was required. I had to continue to relit and touch up for the remainder of the cigar. Smoke volume was good until I stared having problems.

Construction: 27 Points of 30 Possible

The construction of this cigar looked well done, and the cap was applied nicely and cut clean. The draw was somewhat restricted and required a double pull one it. Overall the cigar looked good but had lots of problems with smoking it.

Flavor: 27 Points of 35 Possible

The Olman started off with a nice creamy oily taste with a bit of a nut flavor, along with a touch of spice on the back of the throat. The draw was a bit tight for me however the smoke volume at the start was good. After the ash fell I stared having problems with it tunneling and required several relights. The flavors never seemed to get much better and it kind of went flat. It was mild in strength until the last third and it picked up a bit.

Summary

Overall the cigar was not bad, although I had burn issues which I think caused it to have a lack of flavor this would be a nice morning cigar due to the mildness of it. Thanks Joe for letting me do this review and be one of the first to smoke this cigar.
