This cigar was enjoyed with Coffee

Pre-Light: 19 Points of 20 Possible

Semi dry wrapper, golden brown in color with one small prominent vein. Cap is well applied with smooth lines, and stays intact after applying a v cut. Cannon is packed firm, with just the right amount of give. Aroma off the foot and cold draw is of tobacco with a hint of sweetness.

Light & Burn: 13 Points of 15 Possible

Burn was razor sharp until the start of the last third, where it began to tunnel just a bit. Ash was solid, holding in half inch chunks. Ash color was bright white with a bit of black striping. No re-lights required, and the smoke volume was great.

Construction: 28 Points of 30 Possible

Draw had the perfect amount of resistance, with no effort needed to produce a ton of smoke. The wrapper was well applied, with just one small vein being the only blemish. The cap was expertly applied, staying intact for the entire smoke.

Flavor: 30 Points of 35 Possible

The first third starts out with some dry graham cracker sweetness, a touch of spice, rich tobacco, and a dry finish. The midpoint adds a touch of honey, and a bit of creaminess in the background. The last third drops the sweetness, but adds a nutty, creamy coffee to the tobacco. Finish is dry the whole way through, but in a good way, very enjoyable.

Summary

I really enjoyed this cigar. The transitions were subtle and progressed nicely. Other than a touch of bitterness in the last third due to a small tunnel, which went away quickly, this was a very smooth cigar. The dry finish throughout was a real treat, allowing the character of the tobacco to really shine. Thanks to MacMac for supplying this wonderful cigar, and allowing me to participate!
