Welcome to another Member sponsored Geek Critique.  This one has been generously sponsored by our member brlesq (Bruce).  The cigar provided for this round is the My Father La Opulencia Robusto.

Combine My Father and Le Bijou and you've got Opulencia:

My Father Cigars have come a long way since their start in a tiny cigar factory in Miami's Little Havana nearly a decade and a half ago. Since then, they’ve grown into a go-to brand for cigar enthusiasts, regularly receiving outstanding reviews from critics and several top-25 honors. And we expect no less for the newest entry into this storied brand — My Father La Opulencia. A box-pressed vitola presented in six exquisite offerings, La Opulencia is here to redefine the premium cigar experience.

Featuring elements of the original My Father and Le Bijou, the La Opulencia utilizes an opulent Mexican Rosado Oscuro wrapper encasing flavorful Nicaraguan filler. This premium cigar has a smooth and creamy taste with leather and cocoa nuances. Each sample that went across our office burnt beautifully and smoothly down to the end.

This cigar was enjoyed with Sweet Tea

Pre-Light: 20 Points of 20 Possible

This cigar has a firm feel to it with no soft spots at all.  The cap is triple cap My Father style and perfect.  The cap cut straight and clean with no issues.  The wrapper is seamless and smooth with only small veins.  It had a definite barnyard aroma prior to lighting

Light & Burn: 12 Points of 15 Possible

While the burn wasn’t straight from the start I didn’t ever do a touch up. At the half way point it was even although not razor straight.  it is burning evenly and the wrapper smolders a bit producing smoke when not drawing on it..  It developed a slightly flaky light grey ash and fell at an inch.  This cigar burned slow and produced plenty of smoke.

Construction: 27 Points of 30 Possible

The cap was triple cap and perfect as was the wrapper.  It was seamless and smooth with only a few small veins through it.  The draw was perfect for me, a slight restriction but draws easily.  At the halfway point, the wrapper did lift a bit at the seam but did not interfere with the smoking of the cigar.  The cigar burned through it and stopped lifting.

Flavor: 32 Points of 35 Possible

1/3 the flavors started with leather a bit of earthy, cocoa flavors and a mild hint of pepper.  The strength was more medium starting out
2/3 The flavors really came on with some cinnamon or baking spices flavor with coffee in the 2/3, I picked up on a slight sweetness at one point.  The flavors of this cigar really shined in the 2/3 point.  A retro hale gave amazing flavors.
3/3 picked up on some more chocolate in the flavors along with the cinnamon.  The ending was a mix of previous flavors, more blended and closer to medium full in strength
I really enjoyed the flavors of this cigar throughout.  It was medium to medium full in strength, without being overbearing.

Summary

Overall, I found this to be an amazing cigar.  The flavors mixed well with some complexity. A retro hale produced awesome flavors with this cigar.   I look forward to smoking another uninterrupted and just enjoying the cigar and its flavor.  Being a newer release from My Father, they did one that compliments their line of cigars.    I find this cigar to be box worthy
