This cigar was enjoyed with Water

Pre-Light: 15 Points of 20 Possible

Wrapper was slightly dry and toothy with some visible veins but not excessive. The overall feel was solid but not hard. The pre-light aroma was of light grass with a slight sweetness. The cap cut easily and cleanly and the pre-light draw seemed smooth and airy.

Light & Burn: 12 Points of 15 Possible

It took flame very easily. The burn line was slightly uneven till half way through the first 1/3 but then evened out and remained razor sharp and even. It held a good 1 inch of white and gray flaked ash before falling off and the burn rate was moderate. The entire smoke time was just over 90 minutes requiring no relights or touchups.

Construction: 28 Points of 30 Possible

The colorado claro wrapper was consistent in color and retained good shape and body throughout the smoke. The draw did seem just a bit tight through the first 1/3 but then opened up and produced a generous amount of creamy smoke.

Flavor: 30 Points of 35 Possible

There was a slight bitterness in the first 1/3 but seemed to mellow going into the second 1/3 yielding to al favor I can best describe as alkalized cocoa, earthy and slightly sweet but not bitter. There was no harshness in the retro and came across to me as med- med/full body/strength. Going into the last 1/3 a very slight spiciness was detectable and left a pleasant lingering flavor on the tongue.

Summary

This cigar appealed to me right from the start as I like the classic look of a figurado. Solid and consistent construction, razor sharp burn line and definite flavor transitions made this a very interesting smoke.
