This cigar was enjoyed with Black Coffee (African)

Pre-Light: 20 Points of 20 Possible

This un-banded 6 x 52 belicoso comes cello’ed and shows some sign of age. It has a Colorado wrapper with some visible oil, almost no veins, tight seams, and a firm pack. Aroma off the foot Is sweet Dominican Bread and aged tobacco.

Light & Burn: 15 Points of 15 Possible

The burn in the first third was consistent and required no touchups. Towards the final third it required some attention but nothing I’d find objectionable. The draw was great throughout.  Temperature remained cool and I was able to smoke it down to a 1 inch nub.

Construction: 30 Points of 30 Possible

The cap cut cleanly and brings a cold draw of sweet hay and aged tobacco with perfect resistance.  My impression is that this is an impeccably made cigar from a venerable factory in the Dominican Republic.

Flavor: 22 Points of 35 Possible

First third starts with medium body.  Flavors of sweet hay and touches of earth, white pepper, and olor. No touchups. Excellent smoke output.
The second half continues with increasing sugar cane sweetness. Body up a smidge.
In the final third the core flavors of sweetness and earth continue.

Summary

The flavors were medium and approachable. There was slightly more body than flavor by the end of the cigar but nothing that would nock anyone over even those who are sensitive.  I smoked this earlier in the day with a pretty fresh palate. I’d hesitate to pair it with anything more than coffee for fears of being overpowered.
