Cigar Geeks Rating

Welcome to another Vendor sponsored Geek Critique.  Up for review this time is the Camacho Liberty 2017.  This critique has been generously sponsored by David of Cigarsatyourprice.com.  Special thanks goes out to Dave for providing the sticks and wescat (Kevin) for coordinating this!

All of the Camacho Liberty Series cigars boast a complex blend of their rarest and finest tobaccos, with each year's version providing its own special twist. Handcrafted and extremely limited in supply, only 2,000 boxes of this entry into Camacho's Brotherhood Series are made each year. The Liberty series is sold in boxes of 20, with each cigar packaged in its own individual coffin.

This cigar was enjoyed with Topo Chico

Pre-Light: 17 Points of 20 Possible

Slightly dry wrapper, with two fairly prominent veins showing in the middle of the cigar. Cap is well applied, holding together well after applying a v cut. The cigar is well packed with a touch of give when pinched. Aroma off of the foot is clean tobacco with a hint of honey spice.

Light & Burn: 14 Points of 15 Possible

Burn is solid yet a bit uneven, but never strays too far off. Ash is solid, holding in 1" chunks. The ash color is a light gray with a light striping of light gray/black. No re-lights were needed. The smoke output was fantastic, with tons of billowing smoke.

Construction: 28 Points of 30 Possible

The dark brown wrapper is well applied, although there are two fairly prominent veins, but they do not affect the performance. Draw is smooth and easy with just the right amount of resistance. Cap is clean, and stays intact after cutting.

Flavor: 34 Points of 35 Possible

The Liberty 2017 starts off with a strong pepper blast, but quickly dissipates and turns into a jalapeno type spice with heat. There is also a slight honey sweetness, along with rich tobacco. The midpoint finds the honey sweetness increasing, a touch of black pepper replaces the heat, and there is a slight touch of burnt caramel, along with a ligero tingle on the tongue. The finish is strong on black coffee, touch of honey n caramel, a wisp of cocoa, along with rich tobacco on top. The smoke is smooth and plentiful, with complex changes throughout. The aftertaste was equally complex, with changes of spicy sweetness, and a nice ligero like tingle.

Summary

The Liberty 2017 is a wonderful cigar! I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Smooth, yet bold, complex but easy to embrace. A full bodied, medium strength treat of a cigar, that is top notch all the way through. Thank you to Kevin and Cigarsatyourprice for sponsoring this critique.
