Cigar Geeks Rating

Welcome to another Member sponsored Geek Critique.  This one has been generously sponsored by our member bstessl (Brian).  The cigar provided for this round is the JSK Golem Covek.

This is a limited release that may end up going into production in the distant future.
Too rare to know for sure but here is something from another blend: The Jas Sum Kral RED KNIGHT has all of that in a full bodied cigar along with a dessert like creaminess that keeps your interest all the way to the last puff. If your looking for a complex, smooth full body cigar with a spicy creamy finish and relaxing draw, look no further than the Jas Sum Kral. The Crna Nok - "theres a tingling in the back of the throat and while this cigar is smooth as !@#%$, I can feel the nicotine buzz coming..must be that Double Ligero kicking in. The Retro stills give the same effect but for me the sweetness in the after taste is building more. Its definitely a unique cigar."

Pre-Light: 18 Points of 20 Possible

This is a rugged looking cigar with a nice dark wrapper that has a very consistent color. There are some veins but very minor, the wrapper is very smooth, not oily but not dry either. Cap was done perfectly and did well with a punch cut. Medium firmness with a nice woody/leathery aroma. Really a nicely constructed attractive cigar.

Light & Burn: 13 Points of 15 Possible

The cigar burned very evenly, and held it's ash really well. The ash was a nice white/gray with little to no flaking. Excellent smoke volume, about a medium volume of smoke which is right in my wheelhouse. Needed a couple of slight touch-ups, but that was most likely because I was under a ceiling fan in my office.

Construction: 28 Points of 30 Possible

The cigar was really well constructed. The box press was perfect with a very well done cap. I puch cut it so not sure how it would handle a straight cut, but from the looks of it , it would be no problem. Wrapper was beautiful and had a nice mouth feel to it as well as a nice nutty flavor. This vitola is also one of my favorites, so that helps as well.

Flavor: 33 Points of 35 Possible

First third of cigar had slight leather notes, with hints of cocoa and wood. Strength was medium to medium full with a nice cool burn. Definitely a noticeable sweetness to it, which is pairing very nicely with the Weller Bourbon. At the mid point of the cigar it changed a bit, got a bit smoother and nuttier and smoke volume increased a little. Wood flavors also became more prominent which was nice with the nutty flavors.

Summary

This was the second Jas Sum Kral cigar I have tried, and this one knocked it out of the park for me. I like the bigger ring gauges so this was right up my alley. Really nice even burn, good smoke volume, and excellent flavor development throughout the whole smoke. The cigar was very consistent. Excellent construction, flavor, and overall a quality, enjoyable smoke. Paired very well with the Weller Bourbon and would probably do well with an even bolder whiskey. I will definitely be buying some of these down the road. Thanks for letting me participate !
